Saturday May 12 12:00-3:00pm
$45/$35 student
This workshop is open to all levels of practice.

J-P Tamblyn-Sabo, 8 Limbs of Yoga As Applied to our Asanas.

J-P Tamblyn is the founder of Ahimsa Yoga, a style of yoga dedicated to honouring the ancient tradition of yoga, while continually refining the physical practice with modern understanding of biomechanics and physiology. The result is a safer, more holistically rewarding experience for all practitioners, regardless of physical condition or level of experience.

He has taught yoga in Toronto since 2001 at highly esteemed yoga studios such as The Downward Dog Yoga Centre, Breathe Yoga Centre, The Yoga Sanctuary, and The Octopus Garden Yoga Centre, which he co-founded with Pat Linfoot & Scott Davis in 2005, before opening the Ahimsa Yoga Centre in 2010.

One of the most important texts ever written on the subject of yoga is Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra. In this approximately 2,000 year old text, we are introduced to the idea of the 8-limbed (Ashtanga) path of yoga. The part of yoga that we are most familiar with, the physical practice, is merely ONE of these 8 limbs. In this workshop we will explore this invaluable component of yoga’s philosophical tradition, and consider how we can incorporate all 8 limbs into the way that we approach our physical asana practice. (This workshop will be appropriate for all practitioners of all levels of experience.)

7:00pm onward
$17 in advance, $20 at the door (prices include hst)

We are so pleased to have Brenda McMorrow lead us in Kirtan again. She will be accompanied by talented musicians Jesse Turton (bass), Adam Bowman (percussion) and Lana Sugarman (vocals/harmonium).

Open to participants of all religions or no religion at all, Kirtans are songs or mantras performed in groups and repeated over a melody. Traditionally, this is an act of meditation before a period of silence. This deeply inspired practice opens the heart and reveals our true nature, calming the mind and energizing us on all levels.

Come sing, dance or just listen! This is a beautiful experience of community you don’t want to miss.
